Ambassador program looking for volunteers to help at events

The North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex is a very welcoming and friendly place thanks to the volunteers dressed in matching blue polo shirts. They are the Sports Ambassadors. In partnership with the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, the city of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation created the North Myrtle Beach Sports Tourism Ambassador program. You will find this group of dedicated volunteers around North Myrtle Beach at various sporting events. NMB students advance in Chief Idol Competition

With over 40 competitiors, the pool was narrowed down by popular vote and middle school and high school students advanced to the final round to be held on Friday at North Myrtle Beach High School. Council approves special event permits

During the Feb. 4 North Myrtle Beach City Council meeting, over which Mayor Pro Tempore Terry White presided while Mayor Marilyn Hatley was in Columbia on city business, six city employees were presented with Employee Longevity Awards. The awards are given in five-year increments to employees who provide excellent customer service. Funding is secure for new stoplight

For the second year in a row, North Myrtle Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 has earned the Department of South Carolina Communication Award for its outstanding monthly newsletter. The award was presented at the Department’s (state) Spring Conference held in Greenville. It was a night of celebration and memories as nine members were added to the North Myrtle Beach High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame. The fourth Hall of Fame class since 2015 was introduced during the break between the North Myrtle Beach-Myrtle Beach basketball games on Friday night. Saturday evening at 6:30 they were brought to the stage, given their Hall of Fame plaques and listened while Milton Gore introduced each new member and read their list of accomplishments. On Sunday, Jan. 27, the men and women of VFW Post 10804 and its Auxiliary honored “The Best of the Best” in Horry County for the 27th year in a row at a luncheon and awards ceremony held at Post 10804 in Little River. The event was attended by 110 people that included the award winners, family, guests and VFW and Auxiliary members. Everyone was treated to a free lunch provided by Post 10804.
