Betty L. Batten

Betty L. Batten, 70, of Little River passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018. She was born on July 26, 1948, in Wilmington, N.C., the daughter of the late Paul C. and Lula White Batten. Betty graduated from Myrtle Beach High School and Columbia Business College. She retired from the Horry County School System as a teacher’s assistant to special needs children. Gladys Lee Duncan Cooper, 95, of Loris, wife of the late Rufus Jefferson Cooper, died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018. Mrs. Cooper was born in Loris, a daughter of the late Doctor Buren and Rosa Lee Todd Duncan. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Jack Irvin Eargle, 86, of Conway passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 16, 1932, in Atlanta ,Ga., a son of the late John Irvin and Lena Singletary Eargle. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Eargle; and two sisters, Frances Kolb and Johnnie Thomas. Mr. Eargle served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Margaret “Maggie” Hiott Roth, 55, of Loris passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018. Mrs. Roth was born in Columbia, a daughter of Barbara Horton Register and the late David E. Hiott. Thomas Mitchell Tyler, 77, of Loris passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Grand Strand Rehab & Nursing Center following an illness. He was born on July 1, 1941, in Loris to the late Clifton W. Tyler and the late Fannie Bell Tyler. Mr. Tyler was a telephone office technician.
