VFW Post 10804 supports Bonnie’s Coats 4Kids

It is that time of year when many area children are in need of a good winter coat and they have none. North Myrtle Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 and its Auxiliary are doing their part in seeing to it that as many needy children as possible do not go cold for want of a coat.

Post 10804 Auxiliary member Jacqui Williams took on this project this year in honor of her recently passed sister Bonnie who was a dedicated worker in trying to help the less fortunate children of Horry County.  Along with the children’s coats, adult coats were collected and donated to resident veterans in the VA Hospital in Charleston.

At a recently held Post fundraiser (coat donations) dinner, the Auxiliary received 80 coats (mostly children’s). In addition other Auxiliary fundraisers garnered an additional $700 in cash donations that were used to purchase more children’s coats. These coats went to elementary school children in Horry County.  Along with this particular fundraiser, the Auxiliary has donated 300 pairs of socks and underwear to nearby elementary schools.

VFW Post 10804 wants you to know that if you want to help children in need (not just at Christmas time), a good place to start is your nearby elementary or middle school. The schools will be glad to hear from you.
