Henry Lawrence Jones, 67, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Feb. 27, 1951, in Laurens, he was a son of the late Henry Lawrence Kennedy Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Milam. He was predeceased by his step-father, Robert Fleming Jones Jr., his brother, Maxcy Jones and sister, Elizabeth Jones Earles.
Although Lawrence was born in Laurens, he has been a native to Myrtle Beach since his early childhood and was proud to call Myrtle Beach his hometown. His love for sports was known throughout the entire community. He loved to play sports, coach sports and then came to be one of the biggest components of bringing sports tourism to the Grand Strand.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jenny Jones, three daughters, Kellie Kimball and husband Aaron, Kayce Stalvey (Russ) and Blakely Jones, and three grandchildren, Kennedy and Carter Kimball and Lyric Stalvey. Also surviving are his sister, Lee Russ, and half brothers, Charles, Kevin and Richard Kennedy.
A celebration of life was held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach. The family received friends from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
