James Prentiss Norton Sr.

James Prentiss Norton Sr., 80, of Loris passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at his home following an illness. Mr. Norton was born on Sept. 29, 1938, in Loris to the late Lonnie Norton and the late Lizzie Alford Norton. He loved spreading the word of God to others throughout his 51 years of ministry.

Mr. Norton is survived by his son, J.P. Norton Jr. of Loris; his daughter, Connie Kay Stroud and her husband Jimmy; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Dale Norton and his wife Diane and Cecil Leroy Norton and his wife Wanda, all of Aynor; and two sisters, Linda Carroll of Loris and Willa Mae Valder of Myrtle Beach.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Norton was predeceased by his two brothers, Burnette Norton and Billy Joe Norton.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Hardwick Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at Cane Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Chestnut officiating.
