The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs baseball team beat Myrtle Beach 4-2 on Tuesday evening and then won a thriller against Loris by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 9-8 non-conference win.
The Chiefs scored single runs in the second, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to build a 4-0 lead, then held off a late bid by the Seahawks in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-2 conference victory.
Wednesday’s game saw the Chiefs come back in dramatic fashion as they trailed Loris 8-6 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Chiefs got two men on by sloppy play by Loris infielders, then scored two runs to tie the game at 8-8 when Austin Fine hit a double to left center field. Fine then scored the winning run on a hard single to right field just inside the first base bag by Hayes Sexton.
The Chiefs mobbed Sexton while the Lions had to swallow a tough defeat by a 9-8 final score.
