Opioids can be addictive, lethal

Opiate medication is widely prescribed as a means of treating moderate to chronic pain.

However, this medication is associated with addiction withdrawls and overdoses. CBD oils may be a safer and effective alternative.

Opiates span from legal pharmaceuticals prescribed for chronic pain. Opioids find the different parts of the body such as the spinal cord and the brain. When opiates reach the certain parts of the body they reduce the signaling of pain message from the pain area to the brain. Hence the pain is reduced.

For this reason opiates are regularly prescribed for chronic and acute pain.

Different types of opiates include methadone, morphine, hydromorphone, codeine and fentanyl.

The potential side effects of opiates can be nausea, constipation and vomiting. One can also develop a tolerance of these drugs requiring more of them to achieve the relief of pain. Opioids can be addictive and lethal. Overdoses can occur even with the recommended dosage prescribed.

Over 20,000 overdoses resulting in death have occurred in the past three years alone. When coming off these opiate drugs one can have withdrawl symptoms such as anxiety, irritability vomiting, muscle pain, diarrhea and nausea.

For someone living with high pain levels opiates are an option. However, there is an effective alternative. CBD oils concerning pain management is a safer option. These oils are non-addictive and pose almost no risk of side effects and zero deaths.

A scientific paper that was published in the journal of pain stated the cannabis oils that are used for chronic pain over a year seem to have a reasonable safety factor. Cannabis appears extremely effective as a painkiller. It has been reported that CBD oils derived from cannabis have the potential to be a substitute for opiate treatments.

The journal of psychoactive drugs reported that opiates are being replaced with medical cannabis. A published paper with the cannabis and cannabinoids research presents evidence of this. A research study collected data from a group of almost 3,000 medical cannabis patients. This study was aimed toward the use of cannabis as an effective suitable replacement for opioids. A high percentage of the group reported that they had used opiate pain medication. The majority reported that the cannabis used gave them the same, if not better, relief of their chronic pain and without the side effects of the opiate-based medications.

CBD or cannabis oriole is unique because of its non-psychoactive properties. It is a hemp derived compound that can be taken in moderately high doses with very few side effects. The WHO Organization has released a comprehensive review that states CBD exhibits no effect  that indicates any abuse or dependence potential. CBD oils are already a preferable treatment for chronic pain especially when compared directly to opiate-based medications.

CBD triggers receptors in our endocannobinoid system. These receptors are found throughout the brain and vital organs and parts of the nervous system. By agitating these receptors CBD is useful in treating chronic pain.

However, there is further work that needs to be done to establish recommended dosage of CBD oils.
