Florene Anderson Stevens, 95, of Loris passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, in Loris following an illness. She was born on Jan. 12, 1924, in Rocky Mount, N.C., to the late Oscar “Bud” G. Anderson and the late Bessie Suggs Anderson. Mrs. Stevens worked at Loris Hospital and then Loris Drug store as a bookkeeper until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Cane Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two sons, Larry G. Stevens and wife Holley, and Ernest L. Stevens; daughter-in-law, Wanda Stevens, all of Loris; one sister, Marvelene “Bootsie” Roberts and her husband, Sherrell of Sumter; six grandchildren, Tamala Baker, Mark Stevens, Farrah Monroe, Ernie Stevens II, Amy Lopez and Anthony D. Tyler; many loving great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; and her loving dog “Gizmo”.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Lane Stevens; son, Charles R. Stevens; two daughters-in-law, Tamika Ann Stevens and Betty G. Stevens; and brother, Elmer Gene Anderson.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 31 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, at Cane Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Johnson and the Rev. Mack Hutson officiating. Committal services followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Loris.
