Lucinda “Cindy” Powell Struve Faircloth, 78, of Tabor City, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville, N.C., following an extended illness. Her family was by her side. Lucinda was born on Aug. 18, 1941, in Loris to the late Charlie Mack Powell and Edith Turbeville Powell. She graduated from Kings College and worked as a bookkeeper with Marlene Industries until she retired. She was an avid gardener, a devoted mother, loving grandmother and a member of Tabor City Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Robbie Phipps Munden and her husband Mike of Myrtle Beach; her two sons, Randall C. Phipps and his wife Ann of Loris and Charles P. Struve and his fiancé Jacqueline Thompkins of Tabor City. She is also survived by two of her brothers, Bobby Powell and his wife Faye and Dale Powell and his wife Katrina, all of Loris; and two of her sisters, Illa Kimbrell and her husband Gary of Rock Hill and Faye Powell Fowler of Tabor City. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Chris Phipps of Tabor City, Madison A. Franco and husband Seth of North Myrtle Beach, Reid Phipps of Loris, and Kendra M. Struve and Joshua P. Struve, both of Tabor City; and three great-grandchildren.
Lucinda was predeceased by her husbands, Kenneth Detlef Struve and Don Henry Faircloth, three brothers and one sister, Ervin Powell, Elbert Powell, Windell Powell and Jean Stroud.
Visitation was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at Hardwick Funeral Home with the Rev. David Watts officiating. Interment services followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City.
