Golf tournament to benefit animals

The 2019 SHIVER FOR THE SHELTER Golf Tournament, presented by Slimbo Events and PrintGraphix, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Arcadian Shores Golf Club in Myrtle Beach.

The purpose of the tournament is to benefit the animals housed at The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. The spirit of this event is intended to supplement the food supply of the shelter and the fellowship and camaraderie strongly outweigh the competitive nature of the tournament.

The entry fee is 100 pounds of cat litter, puppy food or kitten food (in any combination equaling 100 pounds) per player and a $30 per player registration fee.

With such a minimal entry fee being charged, the committee must seek outside funding to offset the course fees and expenses.

This event is limited to competitors who have a love for animals and a passion for golf. The 2018 event generated five tons of food for the animals and over the years has brought in over 120 tons of food and litter for the shelter.
