Irene Gerrald Harrelson, 88, of Green Sea passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019. Mrs. Harrelson was born on Dec. 23, 1930, in Mullins to the late Samuel Gurley Gerrald and the late Lennie Joanna Grainger Gerrald. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Green Sea Floyds Schools for over thirty years. Mrs. Harrelson was a longtime faithful member of Green Sea Baptist Church.
After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time at their beach house in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach. She was an avid gardener who took pride in her flowers and yard. She was known to be selfless and hardworking among her family, church and community. Mrs. Harrelson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her two sons, Norman “Rudy” Harrelson Jr. and his wife, BeBe of Green Sea, and Jeff Harrelson of Green Sea; her two daughters, Deronda Graham and husband, Dean of Green Sea, and Ginger Hicks and husband, Jeff of Moncks Corner; eleven grandchildren, Stan, Rhett, Brett, Amber, Forrest, Lauren, Ryan, Calley, Hunter, Karis and Emery; and seven great-grandchildren, Storm, Alex, Ginna-Lynn, Jett, Raleigh, Asher and Barrett.
Mrs. Harrelson was predeceased by her husband, Norman LaRue Harrelson; her two brothers, Bernie Gerrald and Ernest Lenneau Gerrald; and her two sisters, Hilda Mae Shelley and Parilee “Peg” Grey.
Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at Green Sea Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services began at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at Green Sea Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Brust officiating. Committal services followed at Green Sea Cemetery.
