Trunk or Treat was Exciting for All Ages

A trunk-or-treat event sponsored by Capture Inc. and Loris First Baptist Church was held on Halloween night, Wednesday, Oct. 31, beginning at 6 p.m. Children dressed as unicorns, scarecrows, super heroes and witches and held their bags out for candy.
The excitement of the evening was approaching each trunk open and decorated filled with candy for the children trick-or treating. Capture Inc. and Loris First Baptist combined efforts to make a safe place for children to trick-or-treat, have a hot dog or chicken, chips and a soda with cotton candy and popcorn readily available for all ages.

The children enjoyed the bouncy slides and bounce house as well as playing corn hole; the older children hit the basketball court and put their skills to work. Rebecca McCants, a local photographer, donated her time to take pictures of the children in their costumes. She planned to print the pictures and return them to the event planners.

Children were running, giggling and spending time checking out the exciting activities for the night. The city of Loris posted trick-or-treating hours from 6 to 8 p.m., however, the Hallelujah Extravaganza continued on until 9 p.m. Terry McLean with Capture Inc. said, “We did this last year, but at another location. We want to give the children a safe place to enjoy Halloween night.”

There was a booth set up for Toys for Tots where parents could request Christmas help for their family. They provide Christmas for children from age 0 to 18 years. Gwen Reed said they were down from 200 families requesting assistance to just 98 this year.
The extravaganza brought over 2,000 people in attendance. Each child was given a ticket for a spinner and a bobble head of their choice. At the end of the event before the tired and weary parents and children left the event, a bag of candy was given to each child who participated in the event.

As a Christian-based event it was requested to not dress ghoulishly wild. Participants’ costumes were child-friendly with hunters, a teddy bear and princesses. The organizers are planning a Christmas Extravaganza for the public. Details will be provided closer to the date.
