Free walking club begins to get ‘on the move’ in Vereen Gardens, Easter Bunny coming early to Little River

Get up off of that thang!

A brand new, free walking club is set to begin this week in Vereen Memorial Gardens at the very north end of Little River.

The free class will be sure to have participants up and “On the Move” when it begins on Friday, April 1, as the intention behind the club is to get individuals up and about, while taking in some of the most breathtakingly beautiful views in the entire area.

This is how it works: Participants have to register online from the Horry County Parks & Recreation’s website or stop by the front desk of the C.B. Berry Community & Historical Center at the entrance of the park by the stateline. Then they will just have to stop by the front desk once a month to record their mileage and voila, they’re now on the move.

Vereen Memorial Gardens is one of the most pristine and beautiful natural parks in the entire area. Located along the Intracoastal Waterway on more than 115 acres of forest and marshland, the gardens include approximately three miles of nature trails and boardwalks that meander through its botanical gardens and along its waterfront.

Also, in an early Easter treat for the local kids, the North Strand Recreation Center will be hosting a “Lunch & Paint with the Easter Bunny” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.

The center is a part of Horry County Parks & Recreation, along with Vereen Gardens, and serves the Little River area and its residents.

Located on Highway 57 just off Highway 9, the event will have music, refreshments and painting. There will also be an extra special appearance by the Easter Bunny, so all the kids can have fun making their cool new artwork while getting tips and treats from the bunny himself.

The lunch and paint event is open to children ages five and up and the cost is $15 for county residents.
