Purses with Purpose charity event coming to local area in April

By JOYCE THOMAS

The GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club will host its annual charity event, Purses with Purpose, this year on Thursday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the Nautilus Ballroom at the Marina Inn Grande Dunes.

The event will raise funds for local charities and for the club’s domestic violence initiatives.

The club is excited to have Elliott Realty as the Title Sponsor this year. For over fifty years, Elliott Realty has been a local leader in short term vacation rentals, real estate sales and is an avid supporter of this event and community charities.
The other top tier sponsors include Jake’s Heating and Cooling, Touch Med Spa, CENTURY 21 Thomas, Coastal Carolina National Bank, Margie Dowling, MEDcare Urgent Care and Purpleologist.

Event chairperson, Jeri McCumbee, reports, “This event is real girl power working, in conjunction with community support, for local charities. Our live auction showcases designer handbags contributed by celebrities, organizations and community leaders and it’s a great night of fun. We also have a substantial silent auction. It’s amazing that, considering all previous years, we have probably raised around $500,000 for local charities from this one event.”

The club’s ongoing domestic violence initiatives will receive funding. In addition, other local charities like the North Strand Housing Shelter, North Strand Helping Hands, The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach, Center for Women and Children, Sea Haven, Teen Angel and North Myrtle Beach High School Scholarships benefit from this event.

Tickets are $70 each and can be purchased securely online with a credit card at purseswithpurpose2023.eventbrite.com beginning February 1. Purchase early as general admission tickets will be limited due to sponsorships.
