Chiefs soccer teams set to play in Michael Nash Tournament this weekend

The North Myrtle Beach High School varsity soccer teams begin play this Friday and Saturday at the Michael B Nash Memorial Soccer Tournament at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex.

The tournament is the annual kickoff for many varsity soccer programs that travel to North Myrtle Beach to compete in this annual event.

This year the Lady Chiefs soccer team begins play Friday against Conway at 5:30 p.m.

Eight girls teams are lined up to play including North Myrtle Beach, Conway, Bluffton, Carolina Forest, St. James, Fox Creek, Hartsville and Socastee.

The boys varsity teams set to play are the Chiefs, Socastee, St. James, Carolina Forest, Conway and Hartsville. The Chiefs boys open their tournament play at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Lady Chiefs team is coached by Kelsey Winkler with Ashleigh Miller the assistant coach. Winkler has a young team with two seventh graders, eight eighth graders, seven freshmen and three sophomores. The Chiefs boys varsity is coached by Brian Smith.

Matches begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening and continue through the day on Saturday, with final matches that afternoon.
