Mrs. Hattie Lee Vereen Stanley, 76, of Little River passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, shall give me on that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also, that love His appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8.
Mrs. Hattie Lee Vereen Stanley, the daughter of the late Oneita Stanley Wilson and Douglas Wilson Sr., was born in North Myrtle Beach on Feb. 27, 1942.
Hattie Lee was raised by the late Mary Lee and English Stanley. She attended Chestnut High School and Popular A.M.E. Church. She was employed with Goodwill in North Myrtle Beach.
Hattie Lee was united in holy matrimony to the late Pernell P. Vereen. This union was blessed with these children: Michael Stanley of Lithonia, Ga., Brenda (Darrell) Bellamy of Little River, Everette Vereen of Little River, Edwin L. Vereen of Lorain, Ohio, and Jerry (Heather) Vereen of Little River. Two children preceded her in death, Pearly (Delma) Vereen and George (Patricia) Vereen. Surviving are four sisters, Charlene Greene, Annie (Rev. Solon) Chestnut of North Myrtle Beach, Rebecca (Alex) Dunlap of Columbia and Justin Lewis of Atlantic City, N.J.; seven brothers, Robert (Alice) Wilson, Douglas Wilson Jr., David Wilson and Bennie (Rosa) Wilson, all of North Myrtle Beach.
One sister preceded her in death, Tammy Wilson Turner. She also leaves to cherish her memory, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Popular A.M.E. Church in Longs with burial in Chesterfield Cemetery.
Latimer’s Funeral Home of Conway served the family.
