Andrew H. ‘Drew’ Lawson, Jr.

Andrew H. “Drew” Lawson Jr., 82, of Sunset Beach,d N.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018. Born on April 13, 1936 and raised in Wynnewood, Pa., he was the son of the late Andrew H. Lawson Sr. and Margaret Giberson Lawson.

Drew was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Patricia Ford and Barbara Bird. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Ahlgren Lawson of Sunset Beach, and two sons, Andrew H. Lawson III and wife Mary Lawson of Malvern, Pa., and their sons, Thaddeus and Quintin and Christopher A. Lawson and wife Patricia Lawson of Salem, Va., and their sons, Jacob and Nicholas.

He graduated from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pa., and Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. Drew was president of the Andrew H. Lawson Company in Sharon Hill, Pa.

After Nancy and family, golf was Drew’s passion and he was an accomplished lifelong golfer. He was a member of Overbrook Golf Club in Bryn Mawr, Pa., for over 50 years and following semi-retirement moved to Sunset Beach. For many years he was active in the Men’s Golf League at Sea Trail Golf Resort. For the past 10 years, he has been a member at The Surf Golf & Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach.

Drew and Nancy made the most of their time in Sunset Beach playing as much golf as possible and enjoying the sunshine, beach and new-found friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at The Surf Golf & Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach at 1701 Springland Lane to celebrate Drew’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice/Mercy Care, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, N.C.
