Anthony “Toney” Wayne Posey of North Myrtle Beach passed away at his home on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019. He was born on Dec. 13, 1958.
A celebration of Toney’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home in Little River. A visitation with friends will be held at 12 noon before the service. Jay Ortize and Kenny Frye will be officiating.
Toney retired from the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department after 26 years of service. He was admired and loved by his fellow firefighters. His love of family, friends and sports was his passion. He graduated from North Forsyth High School where he was a standout in basketball and baseball. He was all conference earning a scholarship to Wingate College where he excelled in sports. Toney graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Posey Sr.
Surviving are his mother, Gayle, and step-father, Ed Norsen; brother, Charles Posey Jr. (fiancée Tammy Holdren); sister, Leigh Ann and husband Brandon Jessup; and step-mother, Linda Posey.
After Toney’s move to Myrtle Beach, he discovered his passion for golf, playing frequently with his many friends. He was so dear and so loved by his family.
Memorials may be made to The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach in honor of Toney.
