Ingram Dunes will be a nature preserve

By Damien Triouleyre Most of the high and ancient Ingram Dunes in the heart of North Myrtle Beach are now safe as a nature preserve.  On May 2, the owners and the city signed an agreement for the city to purchase 77 percent of the Dunes for a preserve (7.2 acres out of 9.4 acres).  On June 4, the purchase was completed and then announced to the public on June 6.  The Ingram family retains ownership of the remaining 2.2 acres.  This part has been divided into seven lots to be sold adjoining the preserve.  The team  had hoped that …

Intracoastal Model Railroad Club Train Show

HCDP Golf Outing Supports Party, Vets

By Bob Gatty The 2nd Annual Dick Elliott Memorial Golf Outing, held on Saturday, June 29, by the Horry County Democratic Party (HCDP) at Legends Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach was, by all accounts, a great success. North Myrtle Beach Lions celebrate 70th anniversary

The members of the North Myrtle Beach Lions had much to celebrate at their annual charter night held recently at the Tidewater. Amenities Center. In addition to installing officers, the group observed the celebration of 70 years of service to our local, state, national and international communities. Originally called the Ocean Drive Beach Lions Club, it received its charter on April 19, 1949, making it the oldest service organization in North Myrtle Beach. Peter James “Hoppy” Hopkins, 83, of Little River, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center in Little River. Born on Oct. 13, 1935, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late William and Rebecca (Malone) Hopkins. He served in the United States Air Force, stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, during the Vietnam War. He received his Bachelor of Arts in 1977 from Fordham University in New York. Delene Faye Rakoski, 53, of Little River died  on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on Sept. 26, 1965, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Irene Erit. Delene is survived by her children, Thomas Rakoski, Benjamin Rakoski and Tasha Erit; two sisters, Susan Cedio and Deborah Pinette; and 12 grandchildren.
