Peter Joseph Quintano, 99, of Loris passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at McLeod Loris Hospital. He was born on Nov. 3, 1919, in Bari, Italy, to the late John Joseph Quintano and the late Pauline Carnocchio Quintano. Mr. Quintano served his country with courage, honor and dignity in the U.S. Army during World War II, after which he worked as a master butcher in New Jersey where he owned and operated his own butcher shop. Emily Pendleton Hughes, 49, of Little River passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019, from metastatic breast cancer.  She was born on Dec. 16, 1969 in Atlanta, Ga. to Pamela Permenter and Jonathan Patrick Hopping.  She was married to Kevin Mooney, who predeceased her in 2002, and was subsequently married to Kevin Hughes, her husband of seventeen years at the time of her death. Congratulations to the Green Sea Floyds High School Varsity Softball team on defeating Cross High School Trojans this past week by a score of 21-0 to win the District VIII Championship. The Lady Trojans went on to defeat Palmetto Scholars Academy on Saturday by a score of 23-0 to advance in the playoffs to play the Lake View Lady Wild Gators. “GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club member, Debbie Ritter presented a club check in the amount of $1,000 as a contribution to Grand Strand Blue Star Mothers. Mari Graduates From Training

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Nicola M. Mari graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. A sunny morning it was, birds were chirping, flowers were blooming on April 22, 2019, when Wanda Joyce Moore, 91, departed to her Heavenly home. Wanda was born to the late Raymond and Elnor Joyce.
