More than 100 attend city’s free wreath-making workshop

For the past decade, Driftwood Garden Club has enjoyed its role in the city- sponsored free Christmas wreath-making workshop.  This year the workshop was held on Thursday, Dec 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center.  The North Myrtle Beach Department of Parks and Recreation supplied the fresh greenery and working tools and club members provided instruction and encouragement to the more than 100 in attendance.  Everyone left the free workshop smelling of pine, big smiles and with a sense of both accomplishment and pride in having made their own wreaths or other holiday floral …

Pansy trees planted at park during Arbor Day celebration

Driftwood celebrated Arbor Day 2019 on Friday, Dec. 6, with its planting of two Cercis Canadensis Forest Pansy trees, which helped further define and enhance the beauty of the special plot of land at the Club’s most recently installed Blue Star Memorial Marker in the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.  Driftwood and the city of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department have long partnered in celebrating Arbor Day.  The club Arbor Day committee chairman discussed options for planting and types of trees with the parks superintendent and then held a joint meeting to finalize details at the …

Driftwood Garden Club sponsors garden tour

Hats off to the gardeners and wannabes and those who appreciate garden design and art at the 2nd Annual Driftwood Garden Tour held on Saturday, June 1. The 2019 self-guided tour featured 10 gardens in the North Myrtle Beach and Little River area. For the second year, La Belle Amie Vineyard and the North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum participated in the tour. Club holds Blue Star Memorial Marker dedication, Arbor Day

The Driftwood Garden Club continued its time-honored tradition of planting trees on Arbor Day in cooperation with the North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department. Driftwood added a special twist to this Arbor Day by also dedicating its newest Blue Star Memorial Marker adorned by the new trees and garden bed. The Memorial Marker and two white Natchez Crape Myrtle trees were planted along with various shrubs and flowering plants at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex adjacent to the Veterans Memorial.
