The North Myrtle Beach varsity boys lacrosse team topped Carolina Forest 11-10 Monday evening in a thrilling overtime victory. Leading the scoring was Michael Swogger with four goals and an assist. Justin Broder had three goals and an assist. Austin Hite scored twice and had an assist. George Baldwin had a goal and an assist and defenseman Brady LaPrade scored a goal. Holden Rue and Cameron Goldner each had an assist as well. The Chiefs are now 4-7 on the season.

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs baseball team won a big conference matchup Tuesday evening, beating visiting Hartsville 4-2 at the North Myrtle Beach sports complex. The Chiefs started the evening by throwing out a Hartsville runner at the plate in the first inning as he broke from third while the Chiefs were making a throw to first to complete a strikeout in the dirt. The Coastal Chairmen, a local team that practices at the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness center, took second place in the CWBC tournament last weekend at the aquatic center gymnasium. The Chairmen lost to the Fayetteville Flyers by a 66-54 score in the championship game Sunday afternoon. The two teams battled to an 18-18 score after the first period but the Flyers, who were undefeated throughout the double elimination tournament, slowly took charge after that. Last Saturday the Chiefs varsity baseball team opened their home season with an 8-3 win over visiting West Brunswick. The 10th Paddle at the Beach Pickleball Tournament concluded play on Saturday afternoon after two days of volleying between 34 men’s and 21 women’s teams. The tournament kicked off on Friday with “pool” competition and changed to a double elimination format on Saturday. Tournament director Rick Harpster explained. “Our format is very popular with players because many tournaments use the double elimination format throughout. The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs wrestling team capped a successful season with three second place finishers at the 4A state wrestling individual championships in Anderson, on February 22 and 23. The Chiefs also had a third place winner during the two-day event at the Anderson Civic center. Second place winners were Jackie Gore in the 145 pound class, Chase Simmons in 170 and Curtis Wolfe in the 220 pound group. Malachi Black took third in the 285 pound group.
