Alvah “Al” Dalton Fuqua Jr., 79, of Sunset Beach, N.C., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. Born on May 4, 1940 in Raleigh, N.C., he was the son of the late Alvah Dalton Fuqua Sr. and Novvie Smith Fuqua. Mr. Fuqua is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Dianne Lambert Fuqua; two sons, Dean and Scott Fuqua; daughter, Catherine Fuqua; and three grandchildren, Julia, Carolina and Miguel. Margaret Elizabeth Suggs Prince of Loris passed away in her home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at the age of 93. A native of Loris, Mrs. Prince was born on December 24, 1925. The daughter of Grover C. and Irene M. Suggs, she graduated from Loris High School as co-valedictorian of her class. The North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad is pleased to announce the 61st Annual Fish Fry & Barbecue will be held at the Ocean Drive Elementary School on Saturday, Oct. 26. Sixty years ago, the rescue squad hosted its first fish fry and barbecue to generate the much-needed financial resources necessary to support an ambulance, supplies and staff for this unique lifesaving service that never charged a dime to the public for any services.
