City Council adopts resolution

Prior to the July 15 North Myrtle Beach City Council meeting, Council members met in executive session for legal briefings regarding the Parkway Planned Development Agreement and City Code Section 5-27-150 pertaining to opening, closing or altering streets. Council took no action. During the Council meeting, City Council approved a motion to appoint North Myrtle Beach resident Jeanette Lyon to the North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board. Doris Ann Lee Hooks Sanders, 68, of Conway passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Sanders was born on Nov. 26, 1950, in Loris to the late Stanley Lee and the late Letha Boyd Lee. She worked at Anchor Bank for many years and was the co-owner of L & D Distributors for twenty-five years. Doris was a loving mother, a gracious wife and devoted homemaker. David Carroll Buffkin, 63, of Green Sea passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. David was born on Feb. 9, 1956, in Loris to the late Carroll Lester Buffkin and the late Queta Vae Sides Buffkin. David A. Gates, 75, of Little River passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  Originally from the New England area, David resided in Little River for the past 30 years. Born on May 30, 1944, in Attleboro, Maine, he was the youngest child of the late George H. and Daisy O. (Nichols) Gates. Mr. Gates served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Christian Vandegrift Holland Jr. affectionately known as “Colonel”, 89, of North Myrtle Beach died on Friday, July 5, 2019, at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Born in Richmond, Va., the son of Christian Vandegrift and Anna Willis Holland, Christian graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., in 1948, where he lettered in baseball and football as a member of the undefeated 1947 varsity football team.
