Virginia Belle Fowler, 94, of Loris passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at McLeod Loris Hospital in Loris. Mrs. Fowler was born on April 17, 1925, in Tabor City, N.C., to the late Rossie Fowler and the late Gertrude Harrelson Fowler. She worked as seamstress with Loris Manufacturing until her retirement and was a longtime member of Loris First Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, James Fowler and his wife Hazel of Sofia, N.C.; her daughter, Gloria Jean Livingston and her husband Jimmy of Loris; her sister, Dorothy Fowler of Little Rock, Ark.; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, …

Robert Anne Taylor, 76, of North Myrtle Beach and formerly of Rock Hill, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, after a brief illness. RA was born in Rock Hill, a daughter of the late Robert and Ola Sain Mangum.  Before retiring to North Myrtle Beach RA was a licensed Realtor® in the state of Georgia.  In North Myrtle Beach she was a member of the Ocean Drive Shag Club and also a former member of the Rock Hill Shag Club. Mirella Silvana “Sylvia” Faircloth of Longs passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Mrs. Faircloth was born in Massa, Italy, a daughter of the late Pietro  and Andreina Lazzarotti Irbetti.  She was a Catholic, loving mother, grandmother and caring friend.  She loved to travel and especially enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Mrs Faircloth was predeceased by her husband, Brice I. Faircloth Sr.;  her son, Brice I. Faircloth Jr.; one brother, Eliseo Irbetti; and  two sisters, Vera Isolani and Ilia Calvo. Schroll enters Lions Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to PDG Marion Schroll, a member of the Little River Lions Club. He has been nominated and duly elected to the South Carolina Hall of Fame.  His name has been entered into the permanent book of the Hall of Fame which will be kept forever in the archives at the Lions Building in Columbia. A plaque was presented to him by Past District Governor Randy Edwards.

Edmund “Ed” Vaitis of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at his home. Ed Vaitas was a man that is well known and loved in the North Myrtle Beach community and surrounding areas for his many charitable services. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines in 1957 through 1967 then he became a Veservist. In 1971 he and his wife Joan relocated to North Myrtle Beach. Closing to Occur by June 21 on Dunes

On May 2, the city of North Myrtle Beach and Hillside Development, LLC signed a contract for the purchase and sale of 7.24 acres of the 9.35-acre site popularly known as Ingram Dunes. The purchase price is $2.5 million, based on an appraisal ordered by the landowner. The family of Charles Ingram will contribute $1.4 million to the purchase and the city of North Myrtle Beach, using its $500,000 contribution, a $500,000 grant from the S.C.
