A sunny morning it was, birds were chirping, flowers were blooming on April 22, 2019, when Wanda Joyce Moore, 91, departed to her Heavenly home. Wanda was born to the late Raymond and Elnor Joyce. She wed the late Bright Moore and moved to Conway, then North Myrtle Beach, and then to Statesville, N.C. Wanda was not only a devoted mother to her daughter, Nancy, but was devoted and loved by her son-in-law, Hank, and grandsons, Jeremy (Adrianne) and Tripp. She was affectionately known as “Great Nan” to her great-grandchildren, Taylor and Harrison. Vernelle F. Harrelson, 91, of Tabor City, N.C., passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019. Born on May 25, 1927, in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Allene Hardwick Faircloth. Mrs. Harrelson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and being outdoors. She was a devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord. Earl Dean Hughes, 91, of Longs passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019. Mr. Hughes was born in Horry County, a son of the late Clarence C. and Hattie F. The Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center received the 2019 Electronic Communication Excellence Award from the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE) for their newly rebuilt website. Groups continue to raise money to purchase Ingram Dunes

North Myrtle Beach residents have been working diligently to save the 9.4-acre site known to locals as Ingram Dunes from total destruction.  In February the city of North Myrtle Beach received a $510,000 grant from the South Carolina Conservation Bank for the purchase and preservation of Ingram Dunes.  It was the second highest award of the current grant cycle and the highest ever award to Horry County.  The message from Columbia was clear: Support for saving Ingram Dunes extends far beyond North Myrtle Beach city limits.  Now the city of North Myrtle Beach has until May 1st to secure the …
