Christmas Tree Lighting in Loris

The Loris Chamber of Commerce and the City of Loris workers have been busy preparing the Courtyard on Main for the upcoming Christmas festivities. The city will hold its annual Christmas kickoff on Friday, Nov. 30, at 4 p.m. with a variety of entertainers singing. Santa will be on hand to talk with all the children. The official tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m.

Festive Forest Exhibit Opens at Museum

The North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum announces a new themed exhibit for the holidays, A Festive Forest. Local residents Donita and Rob Kayton have donated their collection of handcarved wooden Santas  and their collection of handmade baskets for use in the exhibit. Several community groups are decorating trees for the exhibit. The museum will hold a fundraiser by selling tickets for a variety of items that have been donated by volunteers. NMB Chiefs get Redemption with a Win over Wilson

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs varsity football program advanced to the 2nd round of the South Carolina state playoffs this past Friday night with a 34-22 win over the Wilson Tigers. The Chiefs (8-3) faced Region 6 foe Wilson inside the Hank Hester Sports Complex on the campus of North Myrtle Beach High School in a game that flipped the script of the October 6 game in Florence, S.C. Edna Joyce Tharrington Warren

Edna Joyce Tharrington Warren, 66, of Loris passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Regency Select Hospital in Florence following an illness. Mrs. Warren was born on Nov. 18, 1951, in Snow Hill, N.C., to the late Howard Tharrington and the late Doris Thomas Tharrington. She was a correctional officer at the Eastern Correctional Institute in Maury, N.C., and was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Mike Warren of the home; son, Danny Herring and wife Candy of Whiteville, N.C.; step-children, Michael L. Chiefs Advance in State Playoffs with Foggy Win over South Aiken

Playing through a heavy fog at South Aiken High School, the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs defeated the South Aiken Thoroughbreds (5-6) in the first round of the class 4A state football playoffs this past Friday night. The Chiefs (7-3) dominated throughout and moved to 7-3 on the season with the 52-21 win over the No. 3 seed out of region 5. Roberta Harris Gerald, 91, of Loris went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018. Mrs. Gerald was born on April 24, 1927, in Loris to the late Thurman McKinley Harris and the late Lee Tyler Harris. She was a loving homemaker and a lifelong dedicated member of Cane Branch Baptist Church.
