Mr. Harrelson served his country with courage, honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps for eight years. After his service he was the owner and operator of Harrelson’s Seafood in Murrells Inlet until his retirement.
Mr. Harrelson was a loving husband and father with many interests outside of his work. He and his wife raised Appaloosa horses and were blessed to have had ten national or world champion horses. He loved working with his hands, both in the yard and with woodworking. He enjoyed bird watching, especially Cardinals, and he and his wife attended Loris First United Methodist Church for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Merelyn Harrelson of Loris; one son, Wesley Harrelson of Loris; one brother, Jerry Eugene Harrelson and his wife Mary Ann of Inverness, Fla.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Marvin David Harrelson, Douglas Henry Harrelson and Jimmy Warren Harrelson; and two sisters, Irene Dimmery and Evelyn Norris.
Graveside services with military honors were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at Twin City Memorial Gardens in Loris with Pastor Bruce Adams and the Rev. Grady Corder officiating the service. The family received friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. The family would appreciate flowers or that memorials be made to the charity of your choice in his memory.
