City Council passes second reading of ordinance annexing property

During the Monday, May 18, North Myrtle Beach City Council meeting, the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce presented an overview of its communications plan regarding economic recovery in North Myrtle Beach as it involves residents and visitors. Longevity awards were provided to five city employees. The awards are provided in five-year increments to employees who consistently offer excellent customer service. The award winners are Clerk of Court/Municipal Judge Kerry Smith (30 years of service), Business License Inspector Melissa Babson (25), Meter Reader Coordinator Robert Vance (20), Fire Battalion Chief Dustin Overholser (15), and Detective Sergeant Alexander Johnson (10).

City Council approved a special event permit for the October 25, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. third annual Kite Festival. Participants gather at the Horseshoe on Main Street.

City Council passed second (final) reading of an ordinance annexing 26.86 acres of property. NMB Connector, LLC petitioned the City to annex the property located on Highway 90 and identified by PIN numbers 349-07-02-0007 and 349-00-00-0037. Council also approved zoning districts of R-2A (Mid-Rise Multifamily Residential) and HC (Highway Commercial) for the annexed property.
