Cru staff team on summer assignment in NMB

Jason and Kassidy Skjervem have been on staff with Cru in Minot, North Dakota, since 2005. They deeply enjoy that their summer assignment with this ministry is to spend every other year since 2015 as a part of the Cru staff team in North Myrtle Beach. They also count it as a huge joy that they get to bring their five kids on assignments like this.

This year, Jason is serving as the Operations Director along side the other four Cru Lead Team staff team made up of Alex and Taryn Bell and Lee and Emily Ruppel. These five staff lead 17 other staff and 49 college students involved with Cru from seven states across the country.

Students on the Cru North Myrtle Beach Summer Mission have jobs in various North Myrtle Beach locations in the fast food and other service industries, as well as places like a golf course and helping a local church.

Cru and Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church have been partnered for decades for this Summer Mission. Students use The Shak (youth building) at the church for various meetings and events as well as help with various ministries at ODPC such as the Sunday morning kids ministry, Hope’s Kitchen and more.

The goal of a Cru Summer Mission is to have students grow and mature in their Christian faith as well as experience leadership opportunities as they develop a community together while in North Myrtle Beach.

They work with Muriel O’Tuel and are housed in her apartments for their stay.
