Dental providers give back

Veterans and military personnel in the North Myrtle Beach community and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to receive free dental services at North Myrtle Beach Dentistry on Saturday, November 9.

Dr. Thomas, Dr. Narayan, Dr. Barth, Dr. Harding, Dr. Tomlinson, Dr. Jasinski and Dr. Poaps along with their teams will be honoring and supporting local military servicemen and women as part of their Military Free Dentistry Day, a day dedicated to providing free dental care to the growing number of military service members without dental insurance.

“We understand that many military families in our community and across the nation haven’t been to the dentist for a long period of time. Some don’t have the financial means,” said Dr. Thomas. “This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with the men and women who have dedicated their lives to our country.”

Other participating dental practices of Military Free Dentistry Day include Gentle Dental Care of North Myrtle Beach, Palmetto Dental Health Associates, Prestwood Complete Dental Care and Smiles at Carolina Forest.

There is increasing evidence that links oral health to overall health and well-being. The signs and symptoms of over 100 medical conditions, including diabetes, HIV/AIDS, Lou Gehrig’s disease and oral cancer may first be detected through traditional oral examinations.

“We are incredibly thankful for everything these heroes have sacrificed,” said Dr. Narayan. “Through this event, we hope to honor and support our local military personnel and encourage them to adopt an ongoing oral care regimen.”

During Military Free Dentistry Day, free cleanings, fillings and extractions will be provided per patient on Saturday, November 9, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 1586 Hwy. 17 North in North Myrtle Beach. Patients will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Patients are asked to please bring a valid form of Veteran or Military Identification (Veteran’s I.D., license with Veteran’s stamp or DD214). For more information, please call 843-281-0181 or visit www.FreeDentistryDay.org.

“It’s very gratifying to see the impact that events like Military Free Dentistry Day can have on the life of one person. We are grateful for this amazing opportunity to show our veterans how much their service means to us,” said Dr. Thomas.
