Dorris D. Harrelson, 94, of Tabor City, N.C., passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019.
Born on July 30, 1924, in Loris, he was the son of the late H.Q. Harrelson and Minnie Harrelson. Mr. Harrelson was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devoted Christian man who loved the Lord. Mr. Harrelson was easy going and had a kind heart. He enjoyed being outdoors, working in the garden, driving his tractor and working in his garage.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Vernelle F. Harrelson; his brothers, Woodrow Harrelson and Winston Harrelson; and his sisters, Edna Tyler, Elise Roberts, Evon Phipps and Minnette Hill.
Surviving are his one son, Myron D. Harrelson Sr. of Newport News, Va.; one daughter, Barbara Bender (David) of Loganville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Chris and Scott Bender of Buckhead, Ga., and Myron “Mike” Harrelson Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; two great grandchildren, Cameron and Mia Harrelson; and one sister, Peggy Clemons of Green Sea.
Graveside services with Masonic Rites and military honors were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24, at Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating.
The family received friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
