Eugene Joseph McKenna, Jr.

Eugene Joseph McKenna Jr., 91, of Little River, died on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River.  He was born on Jan. 22, 1928, in Bronx, N.Y. to Eugene Joseph Sr. and Margaret Agnes (Hosking) McKenna.  He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ruth (Murphy) McKenna.  They were married on March 9, 1968, in Elkton, Md.

Eugene is also survived by his children, Russell F. McIntosh (Pamela) and Anita R. McIntosh; his grandchildren, Cynthia L. (McIntosh) Fritz, Christina L. McIntosh, Mathew A. McIntosh, Wayne A. McIntosh Jr., Jennifer (McIntosh) Alagna and Sherry (McIntosh) Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Sheila McKenna.  He was predeceased by sisters, Isabella Durkee and Margaret McCarron; brothers, John and Thomas McKenna; and grandson, Wayne A. McIntosh.

He has sixteen nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews in Michigan and New Jersey.

Eugene retired from the postal service in 1981.  He proudly and valiantly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.  He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Funeral services will be private at Lee Funeral Home of Little River.  There will be no public visitation or service.
