Joann Sawyer Barringer

Joann Sawyer Barringer, 85, of Loris passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at her home following an illness. Mrs. Barringer was born on Dec. 29, 1934, in Conway to the late Burroughs Charles Sawyer and the late Bertha Mae Richardson Sawyer. Mrs. Barringer was a longtime member of Buck Creek Baptist Church. She worked for many years as an accountant and as a dispatcher for Folly Beach Public Safety.

Survivors include her two sons, William Hardee of Loris and Ronald Joe Hardee and wife, Patricia Ann of Tabor City, N.C.; her three brothers, Austin Sawyer of Longs, Gene Sawyer of Castle Hayne, N.C., and Kenneth Sawyer and wife Betty Jo of Johns Island; her two sisters, Shirley Medlin of Longs, and Patricia Sawyer of Columbia; three grandchildren, William Henry Hardee, Ronnie Joe Hardee and Amanda Hardee Smith; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barringer was predeceased by her husband, John Henry Barringer and her brother, B.C. Sawyer.

Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at Hardwick Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Allen officiating. Committal services followed at Buck Creek Cemetery in Longs.
