John R. Cunningham Jr. of Tabor City, N.C., went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 26, 2019.
Mr. John was born in Altoona, Pa., a son of the late John R. Cunningham Sr. and the late Grace Cunningham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He worked with Ward Trucking Corporation for 29 years as a supervisor and retired as a maintenance supervisor with DTH Management. He was an honest man, a hard worker and a loving and devoted father, brother and “Papa John”. He enjoyed woodworking and especially loved his dogs which he referred to as his four-legged children. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Cunningham; his father- in- law and mother-in-law, Herb and Betty Porter; and his sister-in-law, Vicki Cunningham.
Survivors include two sons, John R. Cunningham III (Tammy) of Kennerdell, Pa., and Lewis Scott Cunningham (Angela) of Grove City, Pa.; three grandchildren, Erica Cunningham of Grove City, and Colten and Jeremy Cunningham, both of Kennerdell; three brothers, Edwin Cunningham (Jan), Rick Cunningham and Joseph Cunningham, all of Altoona; one sister, Pamela Campbell of Julian, Pa.; one step-daughter, Rebecca Burton (Preston) of Tabor City; and many other nieces, nephews and family members that he loved dearly.
Services were private.
