Kevin F. Hanley

Kevin F. Hanley, 67, of Little River and formerly of New Jersey passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at his residence after a short illness.

Kevin was born in Jersey City, N.J., a son of the late Frank L. and Dr. Mildred Lutton Hanley.

A proud alumnus of Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta, N.J., he went on to attend Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y.

Kevin was a fighter who overcame many complications throughout his life including cancer and two organ donations. Despite his many battles Kevin lived a full life.

An avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Pope John Lions, Kevin also thoroughly enjoyed all types of classic rock which can be traced back to his time at Woodstock.

After a career in advertising in New York City, Kevin found another job tapping into his long-time love of baseball by umpiring baseball and softball games throughout the east coast.

He was a history buff in the truest sense of the word. His fondness for all-things Napoleon occupied many of his personal studies and collections.

Kevin was a proud member of the Freemasons and an even prouder longtime friend of Bill W., who helped him find some of his closest friends in life. The relationships he built through Bill W. will help carry on his legacy beyond what we will ever know.

Kevin was known by many for his stories and his sense of humor, however, it is his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends that will always keep his memory alive. He lived for these relationships and found great satisfaction in reaching out to those who he loved.

Surviving are his three children, each of whom he loved very much, Brigette J. Hanley (Brian) and James Hanley (Monica) and their mother, Jane Hanley (nee Filitor) and Michael Fetterman and his mother Karen Fetterman; brothers, Brian, Paul and Francis (Kelly) Hanley; and sister, Mary Jean Lacidonia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Pope John XXIII Angels Fund, 28 Andover Rd, Sparta, N.J. 07871. Maybe today in Kevin’s memory, listen to the Rolling Stones, go to a meeting or call someone who needs a laugh and a smile.

A funeral service will be held at a later date in New Jersey.

A guest book is available at www.leefhandcrematory.com.

Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
