Lillian Cox “Dot” King of Loris was totally healed and entered heaven on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019. She was born on April 16, 1933. She was the daughter of Wayman and Nora Cox of Tabor City, N.C. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was predeceased by her husband, John D. “Buck” King; one brother, J.C. Cox; six sisters, Edna Mae Livingston, Marie Wilcox, Star Finnessey, Muriel Graham, Macel Hughes and Leona Floyd; and son-in-law, Thomas C. McDowell III.
Mrs. King is survived by two daughters, Donna McDowell and Teresa K. Blanton and son-in-law, Mike Blanton; sisters, Joan Schuetz and Sue Callahan; and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Cox.
The family wishes to thank Wanda Jackson for her love and faithful service as a caregiver for Mrs. King as well as Cape Fear Mercy Hospice.
Mrs. King worked with her husband for many years on the family farm; as well as being employed by Talon Industries. Mrs. King will be fondly remembered for her kindness, graciousness, love and gentle spirit. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend. She was a long time member of Loris First Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship and serving the Lord.
Services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel, with Dr. Louis Venable officiating. Visitation was held from 12 to 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Committal services followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens in Loris.
