Local politicians to speak at NMB Republican Club

The North Myrtle Beach Republican Club will be meeting on Thursday, June 13, starting at 7 p.m. at Boulineau’s in North Myrtle Beach. The speakers will be Senator Greg Hembree of Little River and Representative William Bailey, also of Little River.

Senator Greg Hembree

Senator Greg Hembree represents the citizens of Horry and Dillon Counties in Senate District 28. He received his B.B.A. in Economics from the University of Memphis in 1982 and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1986, and has also been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Hembree was elected to represent Senate District 28 in November 2012 with 67 percent of the vote. Prior to his election to the South Carolina Senate, he served 14 years as Solicitor for Horry and Georgetown Counties. He was first elected Solicitor in 1998 and was re-elected three times. As Solicitor, he prosecuted some of the community’s most dangerous criminals and worked to bring innovative solutions to the criminal justice system.

House Rep. William Bailey

Bailey was not a politician. He has worked for the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department for 20 years with 4 of those years he serving as Public Safety Director. He was responsible for a department of 130 sworn officers in all aspects of public safety as part of a 170 member department with a $13 million budget in a city of 13,000 citizens. He was also responsible for daily operations for Patrol, Traffic, Detective, K9, Beach, Communications, Detention, Records and Fire Rescue areas.

He is a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 104. Bailey was elected to the office on November 6, 2018.

He wants to fight to stop tax hikes and reduce spending; end corruption and demand transparency in government; protect and support our seniors and our veterans;  enact term limits for lawmakers; control traffic and congestion; and give first responders the tools they need to protect our homes and families.
