The Grand Strand’s first-ever mega-pet-adoption event, “Furricane Party,” will take place Aug. 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The event will feature 300 cats and dogs available for adoption from 12 local animal shelters and rescue groups – the largest adoption event in a single space in our area’s history.
The event is sponsored by Petco Foundation and hosted by Saint Frances Animal Center; The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach; Grand Strand Humane Society; and Horry County Animal Care Center.
In addition to those shelters, local animal rescue groups All 4 Paws; Angel Dog Acres Rescue; Carolina Boxer Rescue; Kind Keeper No-Kill Animal Rescue; Peace, Love, & Paws, Inc.; Safe Haven 4 Cats SC; Whiskers Animal Rescue and Sanctuary; and Williamsburg County Animal Care and Control will feature their adoptable animals.
Joining the area shelters will be local vendors offering pet-friendly wares.
This event is a collaborative effort among area animal welfare agencies to help find homes for homeless animals during the busiest season for shelters; and in advance of hurricane season, when shelter animals can be endangered by the threat of storms.
