Saturday, June 24 at 8 p.m. was the day of the Miss South Carolina Beauty Pageant and consisted of several South Carolina locals including one of our own, Brooke Vu. Brooke has been competing in the Miss America Competitions since 2012 and continues to do so. She has been an advocate for women in education and frequently holds fundraisers to earn money for women’s scholarships.
Brook competed in the 2023 Miss South Carolina Pageant this year and was named fourth runner up. Jill Dudley, Miss South Carolina 2022, had the honor of crowning our native beauty with her crown.
“The Miss South Carolina Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as the scholarship arm that processes and fundraises scholarships for recipients. The Foundation proudly offers academic and community-based scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as endowed scholarships for those young women in a specific area of study,” 2022 state competition – Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization.
The winner of this year’s pageant was Miss Jada Samuel, a 26 year old from Greenville, South Carolina. Jada was rewarded with a $60,000 scholarship and will have the opportunity to compete for Miss America later this year. Jada has been working for five years in hopes of reaching her goal of being Miss South Carolina; now that dream has come true.
The Miss South Carolina Organization has truly been a vital asset for women and their confidence. They have been providing scholarships to women in South Carolina since 1936. Their mission is to “Prepare great women for the world and prepare the world for great women. ” Miss South Carolina has been supporting women in education for over eight decades and will continue to do so.
“After graduating from the University of South Carolina, Jada began her career as a lifestyle reporter before transitioning into the world of politics as a digital strategist. She is currently earning her MBA with a focus in Marketing.” Jada falls short of nothing but amazing and has shown that through her beauty, boldness, and her bright personality.
