Monty Simpson, 75, of North Myrtle Beach, formerly of Trinity, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019. He was born in Mooresville, N.C., reared in Rockwell, N.C., to parents, Charles Harry Simpson and Evelyn Menius Simpson, both deceased. He was also predeceased by a brother, Phil Simpson (Peggy) of China Grove, N.C.
Monty is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail Blanton Simpson; one daughter, Monica Rudolph (Greg) of Atlanta, Ga.; one son, Clint Simpson (Melissa) of Wake Forest, N.C.; two grandsons, John and Thomas Rudolph; three nieces; and one nephew.
Monty enjoyed a career in electrical product sales for approximately 50 years. His greatest love was his family. He also loved collecting records, playing drums and shag dancing. His highest accolade was his induction into the Beach Shaggers National Hall of Fame in 2017.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church at 410 6th Ave. S. in North Myrtle Beach.
