The guest speaker September 12th at the North Myrtle Beach Republican meeting is Danny Knight, executive director of the Solid Waste Authority.
Many of you may know that prior to coming to work at the Solid Waste Authority, he held the position of Horry County Administrator for ten years. In total he has worked for Horry County 31 years and held a variety of positions to include, Public Works Director and Assistant County Administrator.
What you may not know is that he began his professional career as a middle/high school teacher and taught in the Horry County Schools system for three years (Chestnut High, Longs Middle and North Myrtle Beach Middle).
He taught a variety of subjects to include social studies, PE, typing and English.
Knight is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Psychology.
