McLeod Loris Seacoast has benefited with the extra help of teen volunteers this summer. These students have been given the opportunity to interact with patients and healthcare professionals to learn firsthand how the McLeod Health system operates. Some of the volunteer duties include performing clerical support, helping new patients get oriented at the information desk, making deliveries and assisting with special events. Many of these students have an interest in health-related careers. North Myrtle Beach High School has a new principal, although she’s actually been a part of the school for 25 years. Former assistant principal Teresa Todd replaces Trevor Strawderman who left to move to Charleston after a decade-long and illustrious stint at the school. South Carolina deer hunters should start seeing deer tags for the 2019 season in their mailboxes soon, and there are significant changes to the antlerless tagging system that all hunters need to be aware of before taking to the field. New for this year are improvements to the Antlerless Deer Tag program. The North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center will hold their 5th annual members and guests golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Possum Trot Golf Course with proceeds going to Teen Angels. Teen Angels is a local outreach organization that supports homeless teens and teens in need at North Myrtle Beach High School by providing school books, yearbooks, prom attire, transportation to doctors or dentists and other things to help keep these teens in school. Three North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department all-star teams continued play this week in the Dixie Youth Baseball Championship tournaments being held around the state. The 10 and under all-stars, who were seeded 11th in the 12-team event, started play last weekend with a 7-4 win over the sixth seeded team from Orangeburg. North Myrtle Beach then took on the 5th seeded Hartsville team, and lost by a 2-0 score.
