Doris Ann Lee Hooks Sanders, 68, of Conway passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Sanders was born on Nov. 26, 1950, in Loris to the late Stanley Lee and the late Letha Boyd Lee. She worked at Anchor Bank for many years and was the co-owner of L & D Distributors for twenty-five years. Doris was a loving mother, a gracious wife and devoted homemaker. David Carroll Buffkin, 63, of Green Sea passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. David was born on Feb. 9, 1956, in Loris to the late Carroll Lester Buffkin and the late Queta Vae Sides Buffkin. David A. Gates, 75, of Little River passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  Originally from the New England area, David resided in Little River for the past 30 years. North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club turns 50 where a half century of service does not go unnoticed

This past week the North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club came together to celebrate its 50th birthday. Formed on June 28, 1969, twenty prominent men in the North Myrtle Beach community petitioned for a local charter from Rotary International. Fifty years later the club is stronger than ever and doubled in size. Local volunteers marched from both ends of North Myrtle Beach and met at the Horseshoe carrying the USA, SC, POW and Purple Heart flags down the beach starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 4. The march ended with a flag raising ceremony, a prayer and a salute from the shore with modern and vintage aircrafts performing in a 1 p.m. fly over during the American Pride March paying tribute to this great nation.
