The Rotary Club of Little River is holding its 12th Annual May 5K Charity Run on the waterfront in Historic Little River on May 11, 2019. This event initially was started by the Blue Crab Festival committee during the 25th Anniversary of the Blue Crab Festival. Allen Lee, Craig Hill, Dr. Jim Troxell, and Greg and Renee Hembree were the organizers and are still connected to the event. Legislative Update

We tee’d off Master’s weekend and the beginning of our furlough week with a special visit from the Carolina Panthers football team. Head Coach Ron Rivera visited the State House along with players, executives and their beloved mascot, Sir Purr. The welcomed visit comes as legislation is moving through the Senate to provide professional sports teams the same incentives the state gives other companies when they bring an attractive number of employees and economic benefits to the state. Conservation Stewardship Program sign up is underway

Farmers interested in enrolling in the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) this year have until May 10 to submit initial paperwork to their local Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) office. The process to indicate interest in enrolling in CSP is easy. Farmers and ranchers only need to submit a three-page form and their farm record number to NRCS. Those who do not have a farm record number should first contact their local Farm Service Agency office to obtain one. Mrs. Sarah Louise Powell Townsend Scott, 97, of Fair Bluff, N.C. passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the home of her daughter, Sarah Anne Townsend in Columbia, S.C., after a lengthy illness. John W. Player, Sr., 88, formerly of North Myrtle Beach, SC, died April 5, 2019 at Westminster Towers, Rock Hill, SC.
