Anneliese M. Alley passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Robert P. Read More »NMB Chiefs wrestlers win Lower State Championship with 44-22 win over Airport
The North Myrtle Beach High School Chiefs wrestling team won 10 of 13 matches on Wednesday evening to vault themselves into the championship this Saturday. The Chiefs beat an excellent Airport High School team to earn the right to play Eastside High School, last year’s champions. The Chiefs will meet Eastside at 3:30 p.m. at Airport High School in West Columbia. Full story on the matches will be in next week’s edition.

Todd Harrelson, council member and mayor-pro tem, called the meeting to order asking Joan Gause to provide the invocation and the pledge of allegiance was recited by all. Crossway Church held its annual Critter Cooking dinner on Saturday, Feb. 4. The line was out the door at this event with more than 300 guests who came to taste the foods of the land. The menu consisted of turkey burgers, sausage, hash, lasagna, chili, beaver stew and wontons, wild turkey Brunswick stew, catfish, squirrel, rabbit and more. As the region’s regular season champion, the Chiefs earned a first round bye and waited for the winner of the first team competition between Midland Valley and Hilton Head High School. James Edison “Ed” Wooten, 61, of Loris passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at McLeod Seacoast in Little River following an illness. Mr. Wooten was born on Feb. 19, 1957, in Loris to the late Bill Giles Wooten Sr. and the late Mary Faith Douglass Wooten. Born on Nov. 25, 1923, in Fort Collins, Col., she was a daughter of the late Guilford Gipe and the late Dopha Alzada Hamill Gipe. She graduated from C.K.
