The North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum announces a new themed exhibit for the holidays, A Festive Forest. Local residents Donita and Rob Kayton have donated their collection of handcarved wooden Santas and their collection of handmade baskets for use in the exhibit. Several community groups are decorating trees for the exhibit. The museum will hold a fundraiser by selling tickets for a variety of items that have been donated by volunteers. The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs varsity football program advanced to the 2nd round of the South Carolina state playoffs this past Friday night with a 34-22 win over the Wilson Tigers. Edna Joyce Tharrington Warren, 66, of Loris passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Regency Select Hospital in Florence following an illness. Mrs. Warren was born on Nov. 18, 1951, in Snow Hill, N.C., to the late Howard Tharrington and the late Doris Thomas Tharrington. Felipe “Toby” Mendoza was enjoying a warm day of outdoor fun with his sister and his friends on Sunday, Oct. 21, when Rocky, the neighbor’s pit bull, attacked him. Toby shared his experience at first referring to the dog by its name, Rocky, when describing how they have played in the past, but once he began describing the events after the first bite, he referred to it as “the dog”. On Monday, Nov. 12, Little River American Legion Post 186 and North Myrtle Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 paid tribute to military veterans at the Veterans Memorial at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex.
