LHS Students were honored with a Cruise on Main on Friday, May 15, from 8-11 p.m. with DJ Kyle Gore kicking up the music streamed into the speakers through town. Kaitlyn Courtney, Loris Bog-Off Festival Teen, the Loris Chamber of Commerce and the City of Loris coordinated the cruise giving the 2020 graduating seniors a night to remember since they missed their prom, sports, senior night and the events seniors hold dear to their hearts as they finish their 13th year of studies at the Loris schools.

Colby has been accepted to attend Southern Wesleyan University, where he plans to study music education. The $500 FRS Roger Allen Cox scholarship award is named for the late Mr. Cox, former Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Atlantic Telephone Membership Cooperative in Shallotte, N.C., and is intended to honor Mr. Cox’s passion and endless drive to help ensure that rural Americans have equal access to quality technology and education. HTC partnered with a local produce company to deliver more than 400 pounds of fruits and vegetables to the Kingston Lake Education and Business Center in Loris on Thursday morning. As the local economy begins to reopen, HTC recognizes many neighbors and small businesses need backing now more than ever. Sister Earlene Evans Woods of Atlantic Beach has received her wings. Her earthly duties are finished and she has gone to be with the Lord. Sister Earlene Evans Woods, daughter of the late Mr. Van and Mrs. Leola Moore, was born on February 20, 1930, in Horry County. Earlene departed this earthly life on Monday, May 4, 2020, in the comfort of her home being cared for by her loving children. Mrs. Tyler was born on April 26, 1941, in Loris to the late James Alton Mincey and the late Dolly Beatrice McDaniels Mincey. She was a loving homemaker and a blessing to all who knew her. Survivors include her daughter, Robin Hill and husband Darrell of Loris; son, Kevin Strickland of Allsbrook; three grandchildren, Dylan Strickland, Brooklyn Strickland and Michael Huggins; and two great-grandchildren, Chance Huggins and Savanna Huggins.
