Max Bernard Clayton, 81, of Longs passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. Max was born in Henderson, N.C., on Sept. 20, 1938, the youngest son of Katy Thelma (Briggs) and Zina Clayton, with two older brothers, Roscoe and James. He graduated from Elon College in 1961, began teaching, coaching baseball and married his college sweetheart, Judith Elliott Clayton. Joseph “Joe” Quincy Hammond, 89, of Loris passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at his home in Springfield, Ga. Joe was born in Mullins, on Oct. 25, 1930, to Martin Durham and Roxie Cleo Buffkin Hammond. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1948, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Gary Andrew Marschke, 72, formerly of Baltimore, Md., died Friday, May 8, 2020, at his home in Longs.
