Michael A. Lange, 79,  of Longs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on Jan. 31, 1940 in Troy, New York and has been a resident of South Carolina for almost 25 years. He attended the Sacred Heart school system and was a cadet at LaSalle Institute High School where he was a standout baseball and basketball player. Raymond Aubrey McLain Sr., 82 and Joan McLain, 82, both of Highway 144 Loris, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Raymond was born August 2, 1937, in Falls Church, Va., a son of the late Preston Skidmore and Margaret Burgess McLain.  Prior to retirement, he was a senior personnel management specialist for 29 years and eight months with Architect of the United States Capitol.  He was predeceased by a son, Raymond McLain Jr. Joan was born on September 15, 1937, in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late George M. Peter Raymond Higgins of Longs, 81, died on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center in Little River. Born on April 5, 1938, in Syracuse, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edwin S. and Mary Smith Higgins. Mr. Higgins served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carol A. Smith Higgins; daughter, Gale Higgins; brother, Dick Higgins; sister, Carol Kraft; and grandson, Ryan Pietraszek. Jean M. Wirth, 84,  of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, SC. Born on May 31, 1935, in Scranton, P.A., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Shushura Wallace. James Blakeney Jackson Jr., of North Myrtle Beach, 82, died on Monday, February 3, 2020, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. Gerald S. Hildebrand, 89, of Little River died on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, at his home. Born on May 23, 1930, in Dallastown, Pa., he was the son of the late Sterling and Margaret Williams Hildebrand. The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs lost their second region game to Wilson at home last Tuesday before bouncing back with a win at Hartsville on Friday. The Chiefs did the opposite, winning a close one over Wilson, then losing in the last seconds at Hartsville.
